No one wants to travel the world with dozens of big beauty products in their suitcase — they break, spill and often won’t make it past security if they’re over a certain size. That being said, everyone still wants to look good while they’re exploring new destinations, right? Most of us do a balancing act of bringing the best products in the right sizes while traveling. That got me thinking – what beauty products do travel influencers love bringing on the road with them? After all, many of them spend tons of time jetsetting and look damn good doing it. I interviewed ten women behind some of Instagram’s most popular accounts to find out what they pack and also, how they make sure everything gets to their destinations safely.

What are your favorite beauty products to travel with?
I love my LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask. I also use the Effaclar Duo from La Roche-Posay, Cetaphil, Bali Body and Dewyer Skin Cleanser.
Why are they so essential to you?
LANEIGE always saves my lips on flights, and the Effaclar Duo hydrates and prevent pimples on my face. I always have Cetaphil with me to moisturize my skin and then Bali Body also boosts the glow on my skin. I always use my Dewyer skin cleanser before/after bed and flights — it’s super refreshing.
Traveling with beauty products can be messy, how do you ensure your products get to their destination safely?
I always store it in little zip lock bags and use a silver tape on top.

What are your favorite beauty products to travel with?
I bring my NMF Face Mask, Estée Lauder Night Repair Serum, and YSL Blanc Pur Couture Sunscreen with me everywhere.
Why are they so essential to you?
My skin is very sensitive and dry, so I always need to hydrate. These products are my savior, especially when I go to a chilly destination. I always put the YSL sunscreen before leaving my hotel room and then the Estee Lauder and NMF face mask at night.

I have an amazing compact kit called Tic Travels. It’s small and you have compartments inside for all your beauty needs: makeup remover, toner, essence, serum, and moisturizers are placed below. It’s the best invention ever!

What are your favorite beauty products to travel with?
Dior Capture Youth Cream and serum.
Why are they so essential to you?
The serums are essential for me as I have very sensitive skin and they help regulate and maintain a routine that works for me. As someone with very oily skin, the Matte Maximiser Serum helps minimize the appearance of oily skin during the day and at night, the Redness Soother and Glow Booster serums help restore my skin after a long day.
Traveling with beauty products can be messy, how do you ensure your products get to their destination safely?
I tend to pack my beauty products in a beauty bag or box (depending on the products) before putting them in my luggage which I always check in. I do that to avoid breakage while clearing customs or losing them altogether for going over the required limit.
What are your favorite beauty products to travel with?
My skincare products are the most essential part of my beauty routine when I travel. Because of how much flying I do, it’s important for me to always keep my skin hydrated and refreshed. The products I use for my daily skincare routine are SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic, SkinCeuticals H.A. Intensifier, SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel, SkinCeuticals Emollience Daily Moisturizer, Clinique Moisturizing Lotion, SkinCeuticals Sheer Physical UV Defense Sunscreen, and Obagi Clinical Hydrating Eye Cream.
Why are they so essential to you?
I travel for a living and I’m always on airplanes. Going constantly from one part of the world to another takes a toll on your body, your health, and also your skin. Sometimes I feel like I never get adjusted to a time zone long enough before moving to my next destination, so my sleep schedule is constantly out of whack and I always feel jetlagged. Hydration is key — aside from drinking lots of water to stay hydrated, maintaining a healthy skincare routine is also important in keeping my skin looking youthful and refreshed when moving from one place to the next.
Traveling with beauty products can be messy, how do you ensure your products get to their destination safely?
Traveling can definitely be a little more complicated with so many products to pack. From hair and skincare products, lotions, sunscreens, and liquid makeup, the list goes on and on. I always make sure to wrap everything in plastic ziplock bags first, then put them in separate travel bags and cases to ensure double protection in case anything explodes or leaks in my luggage.

What are your favorite beauty products to travel with?
When it comes to beauty, there are two things that I cannot live without — hair extensions and red lipstick. I am absolutely obsessed with Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Lipstick because it’s the only lipstick I’ve found that truly stays on all day and doesn’t rub off on everything I touch.
For hair extensions, the only kind that I will wear is HairDreams. I have been wearing the brand for the past couple of years, and they feel more like the real me than my natural hair does.
Why are they so essential to you?
My natural hair is very fine and does not grow past my shoulders anymore. I spent so many years just hating how my hair looked, wishing I could have thicker, long hair to move around on camera. When I finally got hair extensions, it immediately gave me so much more confidence. I love HairDreams in particular because they blend seamlessly with my hair, last for months, and air-dry into perfect beachy waves. When we’re in tropical destinations, I often don’t heat-style my hair at all, and these still look great coming out of the ocean, something I did not experience with other brands.
I like to almost always wear lipstick, especially when I’m on camera, and have tried a million lipsticks over the years, but the Maybelline Matte Ink was a huge gamechanger in terms of ease. I just put it on, let it dry for a few minutes, and then I’m good to go no matter what. I have saved a lot of dresses from lipstick stains since discovering these, something that used to be a chronic problem in my life. My signature shade is Heroine — a bright orangey, pinky red.
Traveling with beauty products can be messy, how do you ensure your products get to their destination safely?
My favorite new trick is to save the little 2 oz shot bottles from Pressed Juicery and transfer my face cleansers and toners into them for travel making them more compact and stackable. I transfer as many products to smaller sizes as possible and I always keep my sample bottles to refill. I tend to take too many liquid products for a carry-on, so I have a waterproof, slightly padded toiletry bag that I pack in my checked bag that has my whole routine in it. But I always pack a flight kit in my carry on, especially for long haul travel. I have a little bit of everything in my kit to account for every situation — face wash, serums, muscle rub, eyedrops, Advil, etc – plus a Foreo Luna Mini, which I love to rub over my skin for ten minutes at the end of a long flight to “wake up” and depuff my face a bit.

What are your favorite beauty products to travel with?
I tend to choose beauty products that are lightweight and nourishing for my skin. I’m currently obsessed with four products: the Dermalogica Healthy Skin Care Essentials, the Moroccan Oil Curl Enhancing Shampoo and Conditioner, the Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment, and Ocean Potion Sunscreen.
Why are they so essential to you?
Being that I travel often, my hair and skin go through a lot of climate changes from cold and bitter to extreme heat, dryness, and humidity. Without consistency, my body gets out of whack, causing my hair and skin to go on a full-on revolt. The Dermalogica line not only keeps my skin balanced, but it aids in helping the appearance of my skin brighter. Although this is a four to five step regimen, I travel with my three favorites: Special Cleansing Gel (as a general face wash), Dynamic Skin Recovery Moisturizer with SPF 50 (to protect my skin from the “aged” look exposure to the sun can give you and for a natural glow), and Stress Positive Eye Life (to minimize bags and puffiness from lack of sleep or stress). For my hair, the Moroccan Oil line has been my savior in protecting my curls and keeping my luscious locks nourished. While I travel, I usually leave my hair curly and don’t add any heat (flatirons, blow dryers, etc.) during my trips to minimize damage and dryness. The Moroccan Oil line activates my hair, keeps it less frizzy, boosts shine, and altogether makes it more manageable. My holy grail for my lips has been the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment for the past year and a half. It has a silky consistency that stays on your lips all day, makes them look fuller, and has a beautiful sheen. I use this lip balm over any other lipstick or gloss because of how naturally glamorous it looks with or without makeup. This is my ultimate necessity when traveling to cold or dry climates. Last, and certainly not least, my favorite sunblock by Ocean Potion. I first starting using it on the Island of Culebra, located just off of Puerto Rico. I found it at a local shop to use while snorkeling and had to have it because it’s SPF 70 and smells delicious! It applies sheer, but has a soft shine (skip the oil folks, this is all you need!). I’m really active, so this sunscreen is perfect since it doesn’t sweat off easily, lasts in the water for up to 80 minutes, and also looks amazing on your skin. Glow on!
Traveling with beauty products can be messy, how do you ensure your products get to their destination safely?
I have become an organized traveler over the past two years. While my itinerary changes day to day, the organization of my bag does not. I use flexible packing cubes and reusable travel bottles for my shampoo/conditioner. In order to keep my flight leak-proof, I squeeze out the extra air in the bottle, cover the top with plastic wrap or tape, and immediately put the cap back on. I went through entirely too many occasions of sticky bags and stains on my clothing from spilling. For extra security, use zip-top plastic baggies to put your liquid products in, as well as a separate one for your makeup. Not only does it suck to have a mess in your bag, but it’s also money down the drain that can be avoided.

What are your favorite beauty products to travel with?
My favorite beauty products to travel with are Sunbum’s dry shampoo, SkinLaundry’s hydrating sheet mask, and Beautycounter’s No. 3 Facial Mist.
Why are they so essential to you?
The Beautycounter No. 3 facial mist helps me because I feel like my skin is always thrown off balance when I’m traveling due to the change of climate. Therefore, this charcoal powder and kaolin clay facial mist helps keep my skin balanced and prevents breakouts. I put it on before applying my serums and moisturizer and after cleansing and toning my face. Sunbum’s dry shampoo is my holy grail product because the smell is not overpowering and the formula works the best for leaving my hair fresh for days. I don’t need a lot and it doesn’t leave residue like other dry shampoos I’ve tried. Also, SkinLaundry’s hydrating sheet mask is a must-have. I bring a couple on every trip for my plane rides. It makes my face feel hydrated and refreshed for landing.
Traveling with beauty products can be messy, how do you ensure your products get to their destination safely?
I bought packing cubes from Amazon which came with a toiletry bag! I always use packing tape to tape shut liquids too (a trick I learned from my mother). It’s helped to ensure nothing leaks out of my bag.
What are your favorite beauty products to travel with?
I’m a huge fan of NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, Makeup Forever Primer and shea butter.
Why are they so essential to you?
Concealer because I travel a lot. I go on long plane rides, through different time zones and find myself with bags under my eyes. I love to use my NARS concealer to cover those bad boys up so I can look alert, awake and fly wherever I am. I love primer because it takes shine away from my face, I use makeup Forever Step 1 primer. It keeps shine at bay especially when I’m on camera.
I like shea butter. It’s a natural emollient that you can buy in a brick and can melt it down yourself. It’s a wonderful moisturizer, especially for women of color, as it helps with ashiness.
Traveling with beauty products can be messy, how do you ensure your products get to their destination safely?
I always recommend buying plastic travel vials, they’re much more durable than glass. I tend to put my products in a ziplock bag, which helps with security. Then it won’t seep into my bag.
What are your favorite beauty products to travel with?
For skincare I love Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen, Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream, Fresh’s Black Tea Eye Concentrate, Fresh Rose Floral Toner, and Native Coconut + Vanilla Deodorant. For skincare I’m into NARS Sheer Glow Foundation, Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer, Marc Jacobs Velvet and Noir Major Volume Mascara.
Why are they so essential to you?
These are my absolute essentials to properly care for my skin/look alive while traveling! I always want to make sure my skin is hydrated and protected, especially if the destination is a sunny one. That’s why I never leave the house without my skincare holy grail. As far as cosmetics, if I had to only pick three products, these would be it!
Traveling with beauty products can be messy, how do you ensure your products get to their destination safely?
I am such a neat freak when it comes to packing but I wasn’t always like this. I’m naturally an over-packer, so now I pack far enough in advance to give myself enough time to edit down my luggage. As far as products go, I always pack my face and body toiletries in one pouch, hair in another, jewelry in another, and so on. Also, invest in travel-sized bottles as to avoid having to pack full-sized products! This will help from a weigh perspective and if something spills, at least you didn’t waste all of it!

What are your favorite beauty products to travel with?
I travel with a variety of face masks. For jetlagged dull skin I use This Works Expert Vitamin C Power Mask first thing when I wake up and the evenings I’ll use a deep hydrating sheet mask from Leaders Insolutions Aquaringer Skin Clinic Mask. I use IT Cosmetics CC Cream as my daily coverage and I’ll always carry a bottle of essential oil to keep me grounded.
Why are they so essential to you?
My essential oils give me comfort in new rooms be it Airbnbs or hotel rooms. I’ll sprinkle the oils on the bedsheets and in the shower. Face masks are a quick solution to the fatigue and dryness traveling brings upon my skin. Using a CC cream for both daily and night coverage allows me to carry less in my makeup bag.
Traveling with beauty products can be messy, how do you ensure your products get to their destination safely?
Less is more! I only take what I need and I’ll bring products that can multi-function. For example, I’ll just bring a cc cream, brow pencil, lipstick, contour kit and mascara. The brow pencil can act as an eye liner, the lipstick can be used as rouge and the contour kit can be used on my eyes to create a subtle depth.
