Fall is officially here, which means everyone’s favorite fashion season has finally arrived. It’s time to wear layers and get excited about leather jackets, cozy sweaters, and comfortable boots. It’s also when cozy materials start making an appearance — from shearling to wool to cashmere, a chill in the air means people are more thoughtful about staying warm with their fall attire.
Not sure what’s trending this year? Here are some of our favorite fall outfit ideas with shoppable links to update your closet.
This belted cardigan and dress look is a fall outfit classic, especially when paired with knee-high boots. You can wear this ensemble with bare legs, or tights once the full autumn chill hits. Both the denim dress and cardigan are perfect for layering and will be in heavy rotation in your closet.
This fall we’re putting a new spin on the classic polo and turning it into a super cute outfit. We’re especially into textured polos like this Fendi number which looks extra cozy yet stylish at the same time. Pair with wide-legged jeans for a casual fall outfit or a leather skirt for a sexy evening number.
Sweater vests are huge this fall, especially if they come in quintessentially autumnal houndstooth. If you’re not sure what to wear this fall, a sweater vest over a dress or shirt is a great update to your wardrobe. Best of all, this trending item comes in an array of colors.
Floral prints aren’t only for summer! In fact, this fall you’ll see lots of pants, sweaters, and skirts that come in floral prints perfect to brighten your mood on a dreary day. You can even wear floral prints together as a top and bottom, like in the super cute outfit above (which is from Danish designer Stine Goya).

Purple is huge this season and is one of our favorite fall outfit ideas. There are so many shades of this hue that you can easily wear it head to toe (like in the outfit above) or just use it as a pop of color in your wardrobe. We’re particularly enamored by the color amethyst in the purple color family (as seen in our reel here) but are also huge fans of lilac, lavender, and burgundy which will brighten your fall outfits this season.
Nineties and Y2K style are everywhere at the moment, and with it of course, the aesthetic from the movie The Matrix. We’re talking black leather, sexy cutouts, and teeny sunglasses. Make sure you incorporate some Matrix vibes into your fall attire.
Fall means trading in your sandals for boots, and we’re particularly taken with the bold soles we’ve seen coming down the runways. Whether they’re flat, platforms or heels, black leather boots are trending and can update any fall outfit.

These are not your grandmother’s cardigan sets. For fall, cropped tops with matching cardigans are everywhere, and they’re the perfect blend of cute and comfy. Wear them with jeans or a high-waisted skirt and tights for a casual fall outfit.
A sleek black leather skirt with a slit will keep you warm and also undeniably looks hot. Wear it with a sweater or our aforementioned cardigan set to achieve ultimate autumn vibes. A leather skirt is versatile and only gets better with age as the piece adjusts to your curves.
Why wear plain jeans when you can wear patchwork ones? This season don a pair of denim with a variety of colors and textures for a bold fall fashion statement. You can keep the rest of your outfit understated and let your denim do the talking.
A shirt dress can be easily dressed up or down, and worn with flats or heels. Endlessly versatile, this fall you’ll see an array of shirt dresses in all colors. If you don’t have one yet, make sure to nab this one-and-done look for your fall outfits.
Let’s get cozy with soft materials — think cashmere, shearling, and merino. Select a palette of winter whites and cream colors for your fall outfits, and you have the perfect chalet chic wardrobe. This aesthetic is perfect for leaf-peeping and snuggling with hot chocolate once fall gets chilly.
