Indian-American beauty influencer and YouTuber Arshia Moorjani launched her platform to share her love for creating makeup looks but also to fill a void. Like many women of color, she felt that she was underrepresented in the beauty space and had a hard time finding tutorials of women of looked like her. Rather than wait for others to step up, she launched her own videos and Instagram, amassing an engaged following around the world. A wealth of knowledge when it comes to skincare, haircare, makeup, and wellness, I interviewed Moorjani about her favorite products to use. Find out which ones keep her camera-ready.

What skincare product is most effective for your skin and why?
Arshia Moorjani: I have very dry, dull, uneven skin so I am constantly looking for products to hydrate as well as brighten my skin and correct the uneven tone. I have found three products that have worked wonders for my skin to correct my skin concerns which include: Vitamin C serum (right now, I am using the Lancome Visionnaire Skin Solutions 15% Vitamin C) which helps to even out and hydrate my skin, Chemical exfoliants (My forever favorite is The Ordinary AHA 30% BHA 2%) to exfoliate my skin and help reveal a more even complexion and lastly, SPF! I am obsessed with SPF and finding ones that are brown girl-friendly and won’t leave a white cast on my skin. My top two favorites of all time would have to be Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen and Shiseido UV Stick.

What is your favorite fragrance and why?
I love wearing perfumes depending on my mood, time of the day or year and outfits but my top pick is always Dolce and Gabbana ‘The One’ because it is feminine, strong, sexy and extremely long-lasting. I always get asked about my perfume anytime I wear this scent.

You have a unique body shimmer technique, what product do you use?
As I mentioned, I have very dry skin and constantly looking for products that deliver hydration (without the oily/sticky) feeling, while also adding a natural glow to my skin. I wasn’t able to find the perfect product so I created my own by mixing the Fresh Body Lotion with Rodin Body Illuminator. It is such a beautiful combination that adds the perfect amount of glow to my body.

What do you use to style your hair?
I’ve been so into hair products lately but most of my hair favorites include deep conditioning products (again, dry scalp/hair!) but my go-to styling products would have to be Revlon One Step as it makes it so easy to quickly straighten and style my hair along with Dyson Airwrap which is my most used hair tool. It’s the best if you are someone like me who don’t really know how to style your hair because it basically does all the work for you.

What’s your favorite lipstick?
I love so many lipsticks and constantly finding new ones that I love but my current go-to is Maybelline’s Ink Crayon in Enjoy the View.

What’s a product that you like that isn’t very mainstream?
Not speaking of a specific product but skincare speaking to and targeting the concerns of women of color, like myself (hyperpigmentation, uneven skin, dark spots). I haven’t come across too many skincare brands that are speaking directly to me.

What’s your go-to makeup product that you use every day?
My go to makeup these days is always a very natural, dewy, fresh-face look. I love light to medium coverage foundations with concealer, light bronzer, blush and apply the most amount of highlight to give my skin that glow. I love filling in my brows lightly as well and finish off with lots of mascara and a soft neutral lipstick. I have perfected this look on myself and usually can finish my entire face in less than seven minutes.

How do you get your skin to look flawless?
It all starts with a good base. I love using the skincare products I mentioned above before applying my makeup. I also prefer medium coverage foundation with full coverage concealer as my complexion favorites. Good skincare with this complexion combo works so well for me.
